After breeding nearly 400 Irish Sport Horses since 1986, they have ALL been sold.

It is the end of an era, which is bittersweet and I need some time to be able to process this and express more in words. However, I would sincerely like to thank the many, many people who have supported this journey as well as myself along the way.

To the critics, it’s so easy to be swayed by those that feel threatened but thank goodness you just made me stronger and more determined to achieve my goal of producing the best that I possibly could.

After thirty seven years of research and genetic selection ESB has become one of the largest and most successful performance horse names in equestrian history.

The ESB stud has consistently produced more top-level eventing horses than any other stud in Australia.  The bloodlines have competed at major international events in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, USA and the United Kingdom as well as winning a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 with Megan Jones’s Irish Jester.

And so, founder Vanessa Hawkins has certainly achieved her goal of breeding nice horses with more than 78 of her horses currently registered with Equestrian Australia, her bloodlines have produced ten 5*, six 4*, nine 3* and more than thirteen 2* horses and countless 1* horses.

ps. I will still be breeding a few Gypsy Cob crosses for carriage driving, novice and nervous riders as well as the ESB cattle.

The ESB story

is a project of pure passion rather than any commercial sense which has been developing international quality performance horses for more than 30 years. We take great pride in the selection of horses for riders because your goals are our goals.

All the ESB stock have been genetically selected for their temperament, movement, conformation, soundness, trainability, athleticism, confidence and jumping ability.

The youngsters have had plenty of space to grow and develop, good nutrition, regular worming, gentle handling and professional training to give them the best possible foundation and start in life. Now they just need the right rider to maximise their potential and to realise their true qualities and what they were originally bred for.

ESB bloodlines have consistently produced international quality horses including the sire of Olympic silver medal winner Kirby Park Irish Jester and Kirby Park Irish Jamie (Cammy O'Rourke AUS); as well as 4* horses such as ESB Irish Endeavour (Will Enzinger AUS), ESB Irish Doctrine (Ashley Johnson USA), ESB Irish Fiddle (Alex Hua Tian CHINA), Kirby Park Irish Hallmark (Megan Jones AUS), ESB Irish Eclipse (Dale Flynn AUS), ESB Irish Quest (Tarryn Proctor) and many, many others.
